How to contribute to the environment online

February 12, 2015 Ismail Yahya Uncategorized

With the resurgence of new technologies and use of products that are increasingly hurting the environment, there is a dire need for efforts in the form of preserving the natural resources and the world as a whole. Businesses, groups of people and individuals alike are putting more and more effort into making the population conscious of the dangers of unwanted practices, including the use of plastic bags, cutting of trees and global warming practices as a whole, among other unwanted practices.

We see groups of people organizing clearance days and campaigns that educate the population. However, not everyone has the time and energy to go out and contribute to such campaigns, right? That’s where the online world comes in. You do not have to necessarily go out there and physically contribute. In fact, I’ve even personally seen web design companies in Singapore, who have used their expertise to give their contribution through making green designs that educate people. The very same way, you can simply use your laptop to do so, and below are some of the examples I would suggest on that regard.

Email instead of paper – A key environment saver is by refusing to use paper, which is made by the nature’s trees, when possible. Helping switch to primarily using email and large databases instead of papers will help preserve the wood taken from our lovely forests, among other things.Cloud based technology will help tremendously in this cause.

Educating people – The least you can do is have your contribution by placing at least one logo on your social media profile or website that shows support for the environmentalists. If you want to take it a step further, you can even make a few green designs that will definitely grab the attention of the masses, which will undoubtedly have at least a slight effect on some of the people that get to see it.

Organizing green campaigns – Internet’s effect in today’s world should never be underestimated. In fact, it is amazing how much you can do using online platforms, especially the kinds of Facebook and Twitter. Giving time and effort into organizing a creative event or campaign and marketing it out to masses is likely to turn into a success, and that alone could be a great contribution towards the environment.

Last but not least, you can create a website that gives valuable information with regards to the environment, such as informing the public about the positives and negatives of environment practices, human behavior, advice on how to preserve the nature, and even come up with trends that get the population to contribute as well – the masses always get the job done, after all!

There are almost unlimited ways people can contribute to the environment online, and the above cover just some of them. I’ve often heard the phrase “if there is will, there is a way” and it couldn’t be truer in this case as well. As long as you have the will and make an effort, you can use the creativity to make even the slightest of contributions that could mean a lot, and you might not even realize it!
