Volleyball and The Beach Rehearsal

Blue Bay Esmeralda, Wedding, KampDay 3 of our tripe down south saw some clouds rolling into the sky, but that wasn’t a major concern. Having the cooler weather (if +22 is cooler) meant some nice weather for an afternoon of volleyball. We all hung out and played for the better part of three hours, then it was off to relax by the pool. Relaxing didn’t last very long… we then hit the pool for some basketball, water polo, and some pool volleyball. It was this day that made us all realize that there was going to be a lot of exercise on this trip =)

During the evening of day 3, it was time for the wedding rehearsal on the beach. It was already very much night when we started the rehearsal, but it was nice having most of the people that came for the wedding all in one place. The wedding was officiated by Natalie’s brother in law, so it was very cool being witness to everything. In the slideshow you will see one shot of Terry holding a piece of paper with the order of the wedding party, with all the lines, and arrows, it very much looks like a football play =) Once the rehearsal was completed, we headed to the “Surf and Turf” restaurant at the resort for a very, very tasty dinner.

Coming up on Day 4, a group of us hit the road to check out an ecopark called Xel Ha, which included some awesome views, dolphins, and some awesome snorkel action.

Playin’ In Playa (Del Carmen that is)

Blue Bay Esmeralda, Wedding, KampWelcome to the first day of posts for Natalie and Terry’s rockin’ kick ass destination wedding in Mexico. We had the pleasure of spending the week at an awesome resort called Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda. The weather was beautiful, the food was most excellent, and the drinks were free, talk about pure awesomeness. The first day we arrived at the resort, it was a day of exploring the resort, and recovering from our red eye flight with Sky Service. We all took it easy on day 1, and myself and Jess were sound asleep by about 6pm that night. We figured it was better to be rested up quickly then try to push ourselves to hard, and be sleepy the whole week. Funny side note – Jake actually ran into someone from high school on the same flight south…. Manitoba is way to small!!

Day 2 of the trip saw us hitting the road for the town just down the road called Playa Del Carmen. Very much a resort town, “Playa” is a very young city, very much based on the revenues of tourists. When we arrived to Playa, we headed for 5th Ave. 5th Ave is the total tourist trap… the place all the cabs take you to spend your hard earned mooooola. 5th Ave is closed of to traffic, and just shop after shop for about 25 blocks.

One of Terry’s goals of the week was to buy a guitar in Mexico. It took us a while to find a local that knew where the guitar shop was, but eventually we found someone that told us it was at the end of 5th Ave and then about 6 blocks out of the tourist district.

In the slide show below, you will see a span of photos from the day. Starting off in the hotel lobby where we all met, the cab ride to Playa, shopping for hats (there was lots of haggle room on these purchases,) a stop at the beach in Playa including lunch, a couple of shots of Natalie inspecting a hotdog cart (she’s a health inspector,) and then finally finding the guitar shop. A little note on the guitar Terry bought, Natalie actually talked to the store owner, and had the price cut in half because they were in the area to get married. Gotta love the “We’re getting married” card…. it even works in Mexico =)

Coming up early next week, we head to Day 3, which included about 4 hours of beach volleyball, as well as the wedding rehearsal on the beach =) Now check out some photo action below.

Hola Winnipeg =)

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is all we can say since getting home this morning. In our infinite wisdom, we only brought sandals to the airport when we left for Mexico, so lucky for us there was a fresh layer of the snow to walk through from the airport to our car….. the feeling of snow melting against my exposed toes definitely made me really miss the paradise we had left only 5 hours prior. Though its cold, we definitely missed home, I think everyone eventually has that feeling when they go away, but it was good to walk in and lay on our bed for a quick nap thats for sure.

This is just going to be a quick post, we have soooooooooooooo many photos and stories to share from our week in Mexico with Natalie and Terry, so those will be coming over the next couple of days, to help keep the winter blues away =)

To Natalie and Terry, your families, and friends, we couldn’t have even imagined a better group of people to spend a week with. You all made us feel so incredibly welcome, loved, and part of the group. Nat and Terry you guys are beautiful inside and out, and we are so thankful for being able to get to know you, we feel as if we’ve known you for years.

At this time, we want to say goodnight to everyone. Its 5:20pm but we’re running on about 8 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours, so time to rest. Till the next post, here is just one quick shot from the formals on the day of the wedding…… Nat and Terry always remember “SEXY TIME!!!!” lol. Blue Bay Esmeralda, Grand, Wedding

Hola! Mexico, its Pimpin’

Hola friends =) We’ve made it to Mexico, and needless to say, the weather is hot, the drinks are cold and wet, and we’re having an awesome time down here with Natalie and Terry. We originally planned to ignore the digital world, and hide from the internet… but that only lasted two days lol =) We had a great trip into Playa Del Carmen with the couple / friends and family yesterday, on a quest for a guitar, so stay tuned for those photos (probably later today) but in the mean time, this is an awesome shot Jess grabbed while having lunch yesterday (giggity) ;-)Blue Bay Esmeralda, Grand, Wedding
